Most do not know this, but I am a massive fan of Middle-Earth, as big as a fan as I am for Batman and Harry Potter. The only reason this review is my first post for the franchise is the fact that the series is done, sad right. But to showcase my love for the franchise, I will be reviewing all the Middle Earth Films chronologically. Yes, sharpen your swords, ready your arrows, and prepare your rings of power, because The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey is upon us. This way, you fools!

After I first saw Unexpected Journey, I went straight to Rotten Tomatoes, and checked the film's score. If what I thought of the movie was common amongst others, I would see a 76-84% score on Rotten Tomatoes, instead what I found was a 64% score. I was stunned, if you can not tell already, I loved this movie. A great prequel installment to one of the cinematic achievements ever, The Lord of the Rings. First the performances were memorable, with Martin Freeman posing for my favorite hobbit, Bilbo Baggins, Richard Ermitage as the strong and dark dwarf, Thorin Oakenshield, and of course Ian Mckellen as the iconic wizard Gandalf, Gandalf the Grey. The writing feels integrated with a film such as this, and feels right for a Lord of the Rings prequel. The plot isn't so heavily placed on or the action, it's the grand scope of the film. Many times, there will be large and wide cinematography, this is easily one of the best cinematography I've seen in my life.

However The Hobbit feels at the end, that not much gets done within its long running time. It's get you excited for the later films, but not that film however. For that reason I award The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey an amazing 9.0 out of 10.
