Today at my local theater at the earliest screening on opening day, I witnessed the conclusion of a trilogy, X-Men Apocalypse. Let me get this out of the way, I have never seen an X-Men movie before this one. So when I don't understand bits of the plot, don't worry. But I have seen many fragments of the previous installments, so I know sort of in a way what the story is. Let me just say right now, X-Men Apocalypse is a great movie, stuffed with beautiful visual effects and killer action alongside memorable characters.

First let's discuss the characters. The stand outs were probably, Cyclopes, Charles Xaiver, Apocalypse, Quicksilver, and Magneto. The actual X-Men themselves are well balanced, and judging by the trailers one could assume that Mystique is sort of the main character. But that is far from the truth, the roster all share their incredible moments, from Quicksilver's chase scene, to Magneto's history, or a day for Cyclopes in his school. They are all great, and there is not a single weak performances. The villains are fantastic as well. Apocalypse, actually scared me. I was so afraid of what he would do next, and that is all thanks to Oscar Issac's brilliant and terrifying voice, alongside the excellent writing. The other minor villains are great as well, but some definitely get the short end of the stick, as they receive very little screen time. Unfortunately, the movie especially at the beginning, drags far too slow. This continues until the incredible third act, but it feels like that the movie could have been about twenty minutes shorter.
Let's talk about the technological side of things, the movie has stunning and more than impressive visual effects. The destruction looks real, and everything from Apocalypse's birthing pyramid, to the getaway plane of the X-Men, the film never lets up with its impressive looks, and the action is just as amazing. Since X-Men Apocalypse is a satisfying superhero team up, spawning some of the best Marvel characters and whipping them alongside impressive scenes, looks, and action. For that reason I award X-Men: Apocalypse a great 8.9 out of 10.
