The Divergent Series: Ascendant TV Movie?

This is my first post ever for the Divergent series, this is a post I had to make, since it is a massive one. For those who do not know, I am a casual fan of the Divergent series, I enjoyed the books, but the movies...eh. I saw both Divergent and Insurgent, but I decided to skip Allegiant in lack of interest. Well, now the final film, Ascendant slated to hit theaters in June of next year, might not just hit theaters after all!

Ascendant could very well be a TV movie, followed closely behind a spin off TV series, according to Variety, Lionsgate "idea is to finalize the current cast and to introduce a new cast, who would then continue the series on either a traditional or streaming network." This doesn't seem too bad of an idea, if the series was more popular. It isn't and people are sick of it. It happened way too late, and if this is how Divergent gets treated, I feel queasy for the Death Cure. This shows Lionsgate just wants to get the franchise done with a slow and sad march, it's quite pathetic. Ascendant has already been trashed on by Allegiant, through budget cuts, and now it won't even come to theaters! What's next? The movie gets cancelled>
