Uncharted 2-3 Storyline Comparison

Disclaimer: I really enjoyed Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception; I even gave it a 9.7 out of 10! But the story of both Uncharted 2 and Uncharted 3 feel strangely similar to each other in a strange and somewhat cheap way.

First both games include these following characters: Nathan Drake (of course), Sully, Elena, and Chloe. In both games the main goal for the player is to find some "buried in time" lost city of incredible wealth. Both times the cities were destroyed entirely, and instead were carrying some magical evil artifact that gives people extraordinary traits. One character in the beginning of both games give up after the first semi-goal is completed. A group of people native to the area is discovered with Nate.
I love both of these games and they both made for some of the most rich and immersive gaming experiences I have ever had. But when it comes down to the story the two games are strangely similar, and when we come to the fact that we have to fault one of the games for it, it has to be Uncharted 3.
