In light of a recent interview with Rocksteady, where one of the studio's employees said officially that they were done with Batman. Now we need to analyze what this means for the Batman Arkham franchise.

First we know that Batman: Arkham Knight is the end of the storyline in the Arkhamverse. There has been rumors of a Damian Wayne Arkham game but these rumors can now be thrown under the mill as well as the idea of Rocksteady collaborating with WB Montreal on a Suicide Squad game since this employee said that the studio hasn't even begun developing on their next game. So what this basically means is that the next Rocksteady game can be expected to come out in the next generation of consoles. It's quite that simple. But what does this mean for the Batman Arkham franchise. Now I hate to be a downer, but I believe this is the end of the road for the franchise as it is the end of the road for Rocksteady and Batman. It's kind of like the end of the Dark Knight trilogy or the Uncharted series. You love these series so much, but they won't be continued since they already have a great and definitive ending. I can't see another way to wrap up the Arkham verse as Arkham Knight did. It's how Return of the King wrapped up the Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit; it's how Deathly Hallows and the Cursed Child wrapped up Harry Potter. Now prequels and spin-offs aren't out of the question, but I hope that they aren't in the works. I feel as if WB Games has such a great franchise under their belt and I do not want it to be destroyed with a pelt of prequels and spin offs. So potentially this could mean that this October means the end of the Arkham franchise, with Return to Arkham and Arkham VR. How sad, but it will remain as my favorite game franchise of all time.
