33 days until Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them opens in theaters! To celebrate, we will be reviewing the fifth installment in the original Harry Potter film franchise!

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix is a dramatic, funny, yet dark installment that is the bridge of the bright stories and the dark and gritty stories of the Wizarding World. The film is quite the feat in adaptation, which is strange since a new screenwriter was hired for this film only, which makes sense they are intending to make the longest book in the series, nearly 900 pages long into the shortest film in the series. That is an achievement that only David Yates was able to pull of successfully. We learn about new characters and new relationships are formed and developed. It is also quite funny at times with a soundtrack that is dark and gritty at times but also surprisingly bright. However, it seems that the looming evil on the Wizarding World was a bit muted and multiple scenes were cut out that I would have liked to see. An example of which is when Rita Skeeter tells the world the true story in the graveyard through the Quibbler. Score: 9.5 out of 10.
