In 4 days, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them will hit theaters! Today, we will be discussing the grand 3 year life of the film through announcement, production, and now theatrical release!

The film was announced in September 2013 to the public and was set to be produced and directed from former Harry Potter talent such as David Heyman and David Yates. Alfonso Cuaron was approached to direct the film, but politely declined the offer. Rowling's script, which marks her screenwriting debut, took three drafts to get approved and accepted and green-lighted for production and filming. Casting commenced with Eddie Redmayne as the lead role as Newt Scamander followed shortly by Alison Sudol and Katherine Waterston as the two magical sisters, Queenie and Tina. The cameras started rolling on August 17, 2015 at Warner Bros Studios Leavesden. Following two months, the filming location changed to Liverpool. Filming concluded January 28, 2016. The marketing for the film took off with Entertainment Weekly's exclusive first look at the film which lead to the announcement trailer in December 2015 and then at The Celebration of Harry Potter, a "Behind the Scenes" featurette was released. In April of 2016, the second teaser was unveiled at the MTV Movie Awards and WB announced that J.K. Rowling's screen playing debut was to be published. Then at Comic-Con, an exclusive poster and trailer was released. Then on September 28, 2016, the final trailer was released. The global fan event then took place on October 13, 2016 in theaters around the world. That concludes our evolution of the film from pre-production, production, marketing, and release of the film which will finish the cycle from scripting to releasing in a mere four days. It has had a grand 3 year life, leading up to his moment. And I am sure that we could not be more excited to see the long-awaited Harry Potter spin-off set in 1926 New York City.
