Fantastic Beasts: Newt's Role in Future Installments

Newt Scamander, the main protagonist in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, may not have as big as a role in future films as he had in the first installment.

When asked about Newt's future in future films, David Heyman, the producer for all the Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts films, responded, "I don’t think [Newt will be at] the heart of all of them,” he said. “I think he’ll be part — so will Tina, Queenie and Jacob — will be part of the next one.” I am a bit sad, since I really liked Newt as a main character and really wanted to see him as the main protagonist. And I don't really want characters like Credence, Grindelwald and even Dumbledore as the main protagonists when the new hero of the franchise is Newt. But at least he's going to be in the film and so will Tina, Queenie, and even Jacob.
