Warner Brothers is currently in talks with Apple to make movies in theaters available for rent on iTunes for additional charges. It is being reported by Bloomsberg, which most would consider a reliable source. It will reportedly be able to be seen shortly after it opens in theaters for 25-50 dollars. The deal is not signed yet but Warner Brothers is interested in the idea.

In my personal opinion, I think this is a really BAD idea for us, the consumers, and Warner Brothers. An iTunes rental only lasts for 24 hours the moment you start watching it. An average renter would view the film once or twice, maybe even three times in that time frame. So thinking about it this way, with 25 dollars, the bare minimum of the premium rental, you could see the movie 3 times. And it's probably going to be more than 25 dollars. I think this will hurt the theater industry massively. Everyone would choose to see movies at home instead of going to a theater. And from a business perspective, WB is winning but they're also losing because no one in their right mind, would pay 25 dollars to see a movie once at home on an iPad. So my advice to WB is to shut down the deal and talks completely with Apple, and proceed with their HBO licensing. The whole business model is really a bomb that doesn't have a fuse in it yet and is just waiting for someone to implant the fuse.
