Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is exciting, big, bold, and makes for an action-packed film that exceeds expectations on almost every level.

The film boasts excellent action. Space battles, on-land battles on Scarif, and pure blaster battles all make the film ten-folds better. The plot is decent; it unfortunately feels similar to other films such as Suicide Squad, but overall the ending makes up for the lack of originality. The visual effects and CGI are at its peak here in Rogue One. Cameos from the original trilogy look almost impossible to recognize. The only aspect that holds it back is the characters. Characterization is kept at a minimum and as a direct result some of the characters are forgettable. Also, the first act is too abrupt and tries to sets up too many plot lines and jumps between exotic settings far too often. But overall, Rogue One is quite simply my favorite Star Wars film to date. It features the best battles of the franchise and has a big and small scale tone and makes the most controversial and respectable decisions a film has made. Score: 9.4 out of 10
