Red Rackham's Treasure is a superior sequel to The Secret of the Unicorn, mixing a solution of humor, memorable characters, and a pure sense of fun and adventure to create one of the more enjoyable stories of the series.

The story kicks off exactly where the Secret of the Unicorn left off. Tintin and Captain Haddock are planning their treasure hunt and the public is doubting the chances of a discovery of treasure. But, the humor this time around may just be one of the best in the series, large in part due to the introduction of Professor Calculus, who like Captain Haddock is one of the most enjoyable and memorable characters of the entire series. The plot is meaningful, even if doesn't share the same suspense as other stories did. However, this leads to my biggest issue. The story often takes a backdrop to all the characters who are placed in the forefront. For a story like this, it can be forgiven and Red Rackham's Treasure easily remedies it with a strong and empowering sense of adventure. Despite its focus errors, Red Rackham's Treasure is an adventure of memorable and hilarious characters, written masterfully, exotic and memorable locations, and a strong sense of adventure that brings the story through its slightly underwhelming plot with ease. Score: 8.9 out of 10.
